Terms of service
Last updated 18 October 2026
Who you are dealing with
Magpie is run by Magpie, 24A Baggot Street Upper, Dublin 4, D04 N528, Ireland. Contact info@magpie.ie for anything at all.
In the UK, Magpie is a trading name of Headline Productions Limited, registered in Northern Ireland (no. NI627084). Registered office: 12 Golf Road, Helens Bay, Bangor, BT19 1TL, Northern Ireland. If your billing address is in the United Kingdom, you buy Magpie from that company. The service and the email address above are the same in Ireland and the UK.
These terms are governed by Irish law and you can bring proceedings in the Irish courts. If you live in the United Kingdom you may instead bring proceedings in the courts where you live, and nothing here takes away the consumer protections of the country you live in — those apply whatever this paragraph says.
What the service does
You give us a link to a product and a size. We check that product page regularly and email you when it comes back into stock in your size, or when the price drops while your size is in stock, or when the delivered price reaches a number you set.
We notify; we never buy. Magpie does not add anything to a basket, does not check out on your behalf and holds no payment details for any retailer. Every purchase is a contract between you and that shop, on their terms.
What we cannot promise
- That the item will still be there. Stock in a popular size can go in minutes. An alert means it was buyable when we looked.
- That a shop’s page is correct. We report what the retailer publishes. If they show a wrong price or wrong stock, we will faithfully pass that on.
- That we can read every shop. Retailers change their websites without telling us. When that happens alerts for that shop stop until we fix it.
Your account
You need a confirmed email address to create a tracker. Use your own — creating trackers on somebody else’s address is exactly the abuse the confirmation step exists to stop. You may look up a product and see which sizes are in stock without an account and without paying, within a modest limit.
The subscription
Tracking is a subscription, and there are two plans. Magpie is £2.99 a month, or £29.99 a year, and Magpie Plus is £4.99 a month, or £49.99 a year. Both include everything: every retailer we support at full speed, one item watched across every retailer at once, back-in-stock, price-drop and target-price alerts, the deals walls, and the price-history verdict that tells you whether a “sale” is really a sale. They differ only in how many new items you may start each month, and you may move between them at any time from your account.
Free trial. Your first 30 days are free, and the section below says exactly how the trial works.
How many items. Magpie covers 40 new items a month and Magpie Plus covers 100, counted from the day of the month you subscribed. Several sizes of one item count as one, and stopping a tracker does not give the count back. The limit is on items you start: whatever is already running keeps running and costs you nothing further. If you reach your limit we email you and talk about what you need. We may limit an account that uses the service at a volume no one person’s wardrobe or home would explain.
Once you have paid, cancelling stops new trackers, not the ones you have. Every tracker you started in a period you paid for runs its full 90 days, or until it fires, even if your subscription has ended in the meantime. We will still email you when it goes off. That is a deliberate promise and not an oversight — you paid for those 90 days when you started them. The free trial is the one exception: The free trial below says what happens then.
Cancel from your account page at any time. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. A yearly plan renews at the yearly price and we’ll email you seven days before. Prices in Ireland include Irish VAT. Our UK company, named above, is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to a UK subscription.
We sell in Ireland and the United Kingdom. We can only take your subscription if the billing address you give at checkout is in Ireland or the United Kingdom, and that is what we check — not where you happen to be when you sign up. If you live in either country and checkout refuses you, email info@magpie.ie and we will sort it out by hand.
A UK subscriber sees UK retailers, priced in sterling on each retailer’s UK site. An Irish subscriber sees Irish retailers, priced in euro.
The free trial
What it is. Your first 30 days are free on either plan, and include everything a paying subscriber gets: every retailer, every alert, the deals walls, and that plan’s full monthly allowance of new items. You can start it in one of two ways.
With your email address only. Start the trial from your account once you have confirmed your email address. You get Magpie and its monthly allowance. We take no card and no address, and nothing is charged. We email you seven days before the trial ends and again on its last day. To keep going after it ends, subscribe before the last day: choose the plan and the monthly or yearly period, and enter a card. We charge nothing until the trial ends.
With a card from the start. You choose the plan and the monthly or yearly period when you start, and that is what you are charged for when the trial ends. You may pay by card, or by Apple Pay on an iPhone or a Mac. Stripe checks the card when you subscribe and stores it; we never see the number. Nothing is charged during the trial. On the day the trial ends we charge the price of the plan you chose — £2.99 or £29.99 for Magpie, £4.99 or £49.99 for Magpie Plus — and the subscription then renews at that price until you cancel. Your account page shows the date of the first charge from the moment you subscribe, and we email you seven days before it with the date, the amount and how to cancel.
Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. Cancel from your account page at any point before the trial ends and no charge is made. Your plan stays on until the last day of the trial. When it ends without a payment, whether because you cancelled, because you did not subscribe, or because the card could not be charged, every tracker you started during the trial stops and your access to the deals walls ends. Your account, your email address and your tracker history stay; nothing is deleted.
One trial per account. If you subscribe again later, on the same account or after a cancelled trial, the subscription starts at the price with no second trial. Switching between the monthly and the yearly plan during the trial keeps the trial running.
The card could not be charged. If the first charge fails, Stripe retries it over the following days and we email you. If every retry fails, the subscription ends as if you had cancelled it, and the trial ends unpaid as described under “Cancelling during the trial costs nothing” above. Subscribing again with a working card starts a new subscription at the price.
A tracker ends
Each tracker runs for 90 days, or until it fires, whichever comes first. That is deliberate — it is a job with an end, not a subscription to a product page.
If an alert turns out to be no good — the size sold out again before you got there — the “I didn’t get it” link puts the tracker back to work for the remainder of its original term. It does not start a new 90 days.
If you are not happy
Email us at info@magpie.ie and ask for your money back. We would rather refund you than argue about it, and a quiet month — where nothing you were watching came back at a price worth an email — is a perfectly good reason to ask.
This is in addition to your statutory rights below, which we cannot and do not limit.
Your right to cancel — 14 days
As a consumer buying at a distance you have 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel your subscription for any reason, with no need to give one. Email info@magpie.ie, or use the form below. We refund within 14 days of being told, by the same method you paid.
If you subscribe with a card from the start, the contract is made on the day you subscribe, which is the day the trial starts. Your 14 days to cancel run from that day and end during the 30-day trial. Cancelling at any point in the trial costs nothing, because nothing has been charged. If you let the trial end and the first charge is made, that charge falls after the 14 days; the section above, “If you are not happy”, is how you ask us for that money back, and we do not make you argue for it.
If you started the trial with your email address and subscribe during it, the contract is made on the day you subscribe, and the 14 days run from that day. If you cancel within them, we refund any charge in full.
If you subscribe without a trial, because your account has had one before, the service starts working immediately, which means it starts during those 14 days. By agreeing to these terms at checkout you are asking us to begin straight away. If you then cancel within the period, we keep a proportionate amount for the days you had it and refund the rest. If you would rather not start until the 14 days are up, say so and we will wait.
Withdrawing within 14 days is not the same as cancelling later. Because you are getting the money back, any trackers you started under that subscription stop with it — the promise that trackers outlive cancellation applies to a period you have actually paid for.
This is separate from, and additional to, asking us for a refund. Neither replaces your statutory rights — the Consumer Rights Act 2022 in Ireland, or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the United Kingdom.
Model cancellation form — you do not have to use this wording, any clear statement will do.
To Magpie, info@magpie.ie: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the supply of the Magpie service. Ordered on [date]. Name: [your name]. Address: [your address]. Date: [today].
Fair use
Do not script the service, resell access to it, or use it to monitor products on somebody else’s behalf at volume. We check shops politely and at a measured rate; anything that makes a retailer block us damages the service for every user, so we will limit or close an account that does it.
How we are paid
Subscriptions, and nothing else. We take no commission from any retailer, our links carry no affiliate tag, and no shop pays us to be watched, ranked or recommended. Comparisons rank on delivered price because there is nothing else for them to rank on.
If that ever changes we will say so here and on every page before it does, not after.
If something goes wrong
We will fix what we can and refund what is owed. We do not accept liability for a missed bargain, a price a retailer displayed incorrectly, or an item that sold out before you reached it — those are outside our control and are the ordinary risk of shopping. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Ending it
You may stop any tracker at any time, and delete your account whenever you like. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and will refund anything unused if we do.
